7th January-The Bill workshop
Today we were given an insight into the world of directing and life on the set of filming a television programme. Sebastian, who had been in shows like the bill and coronation street taught us about the different shots they would use, for example a master shot, this would be the shot which you base most your soap around. The master shot would film one straight take of the scene. He also taught us how to direct and what each individual job was on the set. I also learnt that like of the set was very quick and smooth. After showing us the ropes sebastian split us up into groups and let us go off and film the scene from the script he gave us which was from the crime drama "The Bill".I felt this went well in our groups as we got to switch positions and got a feel for each job on the set for like actor, director and camera man.We managed to film t he scene 3 times with a variety of shots like close ups,two shots and master shots.I felt this worked very well. At the end of the day we got to ask questions which i learned alot about getting a career in the media, even though the jobs they where telling us about wasn't what i wanted to get into, i still felt it helped my knowledge of media and if i ever changed my mind i would know what to do. I learned alot from the workshop and feel i gained some skills and knowledge in camera work, directing and also acting.
