21st January- Editing the title sequence

Today we sarted putting together the clips, pictures and theme tune to make our title sequence. We decided to tweak a few problems with the theme tune aswell and added a good finishing. We cut out pictures we didnt want and made them flow well together and also started mixxing the clips in aswell. We did have some problems with the computer where we had to upload all of our footage again which did put us behind a little bit. Because of this me and coutnee decided to meet up tomorrow lunch and catch up on the work that we couldn't do.

19th January- title sequence.

Today we filmed some scenes that would be used in our title sequence , we tryed our best to captuer characters with in there personalitys a bit like the title sequence to hollyoaks, WE then uploaded these clips. Me and Ange then started work and finished the theme tune for the title sequence, we produced this theme tune on Garageband. We tryed to make the theme tune sound catchy but also not to merry , however not to grim this would be to sybolize the ups and downs of real life and how people lives in our soap opera were like this. While we were working on this Josh and Courtnee went out and filmed for clips for the Title sequence.

7th January-The Bill workshop

Today we were given an insight into the world of directing and life on the set of filming a television programme. Sebastian, who had been in shows like the bill and coronation street taught us about the different shots they would use, for example a master shot, this would be the shot which you base most your soap around. The master shot would film one straight take of the scene. He also taught us how to direct and what each individual job was on the set. I also learnt that like of the set was very quick and smooth. After showing us the ropes sebastian split us up into groups and let us go off and film the scene from the script he gave us which was from the crime drama "The Bill".I felt this went well in our groups as we got to switch positions and got a feel for each job on the set for like actor, director and camera man.We managed to film t he scene 3 times with a variety of shots like close ups,two shots and master shots.I felt this worked very well. At the end of the day we got to ask questions which i learned alot about getting a career in the media, even though the jobs they where telling us about wasn't what i wanted to get into, i still felt it helped my knowledge of media and if i ever changed my mind i would know what to do. I learned alot from the workshop and feel i gained some skills and knowledge in camera work, directing and also acting.

We also worked on the presentation which had to be in for thursday.

Work we have done

Soap Opera
For our soap opera project we had to produce a section of a programme called "how to define british soap" In this we looked at the history of British soap and the influences of social realism. We also looked at the code and conventions of the soap opera and defined it. We also did a section on wether Hollyoaks is a soap or team drama. We Story boarded and scripted the programme and then we filmed it and edited it the film lasted between 4-7 minutes. In this project i learnt that panning is important when you have a small deadline to work with.
